吴休，原名吴衍休，1932年生于四川，1949年肄业于四川省艺专，1961年于中央美术学院毕业后，调入北京中国画院（现北京画院）为研究生，1964年毕业后留任专业画家，1984年任副院长，1992年退休。

历任北京画院副院长，现为中国美术家协会理事，北京美展办公室主任，中国诗书画研究会会长，中国书法家协会会员，中华诗词学会会员，中国老教授学会会员，美国太平洋路德大学客座教授，马来西亚艺术学院客座教授，北方工业大学客座教授，美国中华文化艺术研究院顾问，新加坡第一文化中心美术顾问，世界美术家联盟（中国区）副主任，中国国画院名誉院长，吴休诗书画院名誉院长，现为臻纪签约艺术家。

其山水、花鸟、人物画及书法等作品曾多次参加国内外展览并多次获奖，为国内外博物馆、美术馆收藏。曾在北京、香港、美国举办个人画展。在美国、马来西亚、台湾讲学。出版《吴休诗书画选集》、《吴休画集》、《吴休诗选》、《吴休山水诗》、《咏荷——吴休诗书画》、《画余论丹青》。其成就被载入英国剑桥国际传记中心〈名人录〉、美国传记研究院《五百位杰出人物》、北京中外名人研究中心《中国当代名人录》、北京大学《中国名人丛书》等国内外多种辞典、传记。

 Wu Xiu, formerly known as Wu Yanxiu, was born in Sichuan in 1932. He graduated from Sichuan Art College in 1949. After graduating from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1961, he was transferred to the Beijing Academy of Chinese Painting (now Beijing Academy of Painting) as a graduate student. After graduation in 1964, he remained a professional painter. After graduation, he served as vice-president in 1984 and retired in 1992. He died in Beijing on November 24, 2015.

Wu Xiu, formerly known as Wu Yanxiu, was born in Sichuan in 1932. He graduated from Sichuan Art College in 1949. He has served as Vice President of Beijing Academy of Painting and is currently Director of the Chinese Artists Association, Director of the Beijing Art Exhibition Office, President of the Chinese Society of Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting, Member of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, Member of the Chinese Poetry Society, Member of the Chinese Society of Old Professors, Visiting Professor of Pacific Lutheran University, Visiting Professor of the Malaysian Academy of Art. Visiting Professor of Northern Polytechnic University, Consultant of American Academy of Chinese Culture and Art, Art Consultant of Singapore First Cultural Center, Vice-Director of World Artists Union (China District), Honorary Dean of Chinese Academy of Painting, Honorary Dean of Wu Xiushi Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, is now a contracted artist of Shenji.

His landscapes, flowers and birds, figure paintings and calligraphy have participated in exhibitions at home and abroad for many times and won prizes for collections of museums and art galleries at home and abroad. He has held personal art exhibitions in Beijing, Hong Kong and the United States. Lectures in the United States, Malaysia and Taiwan. Publishing Wu Xiu Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Collection, Wu Xiu Painting Collection, Wu Xiu Poetry Selection, Wu Xiu Landscape Poetry, Yong Lotus - Wu Xiu Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting, Painting Yu on Danqing. Its success has been included in the International Biography Center of Cambridge, Britain, the American Biography Research Institute, the 500 Outstanding Persons, the Chinese Contemporary Celebrities Directory of the Center for Chinese and Foreign Celebrities Studies in Beijing, the Beijing University Celebrities Series of China and other domestic and foreign dictionaries and biographies.
