当代中国山水画家，祖籍河南唐河，1966年四月生于郑州。国家一级美术师，河南省『四个一批』人才。现为中国美术家协会会员，中国画坛百杰，河南省美协副主席，河南山水画艺委会主任，河南省书画院院外画师，现为河南日报报业集团书画院副院长兼秘书长，河南省国画家协会副主席。

1989年毕业于河南大学美术系中国画专业，长期从事山水画的创作与研究，深得中原丰厚的文化滋养，画风典雅凝重，清丽洒脱。其作品曾多次入选全国美展，并在全国性的书画大奖赛中获奖，1992年，《伏牛秋》入选纪念毛泽东在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话发表50周年全国美展，1993年，《君山不墨千秋画》入选全国首届中国画展，《永恒》入选全国首届山水画展；1995年，《太行浩气》荣获第八届全国美展获奖作品，由中国美术馆收藏；1995年9月，应邀赴日本北上市、大阪市举办画展；10月赴无锡参加由北京中国画研究院主办的全国山水画研讨会；12月由河南美术出版社出版，《现代山水画库.李明画集》;1996年为河南省人民政府贵宾接待厅创作巨作《春满林虑》，1999年为省人大创作巨作《秋山行云》；2000年，为北京京西宾馆创作巨作《邙岭秋色》，为郑州火车站创作巨作《大河朝晖》（600cm×500cm）、《三皇揽胜》；1997年3月，应邀赴香港举办画展；1997年11月，获由中国文联授予的“中国画坛百杰”称号；12月，获中国首届国画家学术邀请展“国画家奖”；1998年6月，在河南省书画院举办个人山水画展，出版《李明山水》画选。1998年12月，《长龙卧雪》获全国第八届群星奖铜奖。1999年10月，为河南省人大会堂创作巨幅国画《秋山行云》。作品及评介文章曾发表于《美术》、《国画家》、《书与画》、《中国画》、《人民日报》、香港《大公报》等。山东文轩画廊推荐画家艺术活动简介及代表作被辑入多种美术家大辞典、专业大型画册。
