1942年生于甘肃陇西。

1972年，参加甘肃省纪念“讲话”发表30周年甘肃省美术、摄影展览创作班。

1988年，工笔画《竹林鹌鹑》参加由中国美术家协会主办的“中华杯中国画大奖赛”；荣获三等奖。  

《月明雉不惊》等参加文化部赴前苏联和东欧的《中国中青年画展》并被收藏。

《幽嶶怀古》参加台湾《百人书画名家大展》。

1989年《幽居图》参加七届全国美展，获甘肃省美展大奖。

《雉竹图》入选《中国中青年中国画展》赴苏联等地展出。

《百花盛开》入选全国美展获佳作奖，

《月明雉不惊》等参加文化部赴前苏联和东欧的《中国中青年画展》并被收藏。

《秋在万山深处红》参加八届全国美展、第三届工笔画大展。

1989年，工笔画《花鸟》由中国对外艺术展览公司选入“中国中青年国画展”，在前苏联等地展出，作品由中国对外艺术展览公司收藏。 

同年，创作工笔画《幽居图》，入选全国第七届美展 ，获甘肃美展一等奖 。

被省文化厅聘为庆祝建国40周年甘肃省美术作品展览办公室负责人，并担任总评委。

1990年，在新加坡碧仙画廊举办个人画展，有十多幅作品为艺术机构、收藏家收藏。参加由中国美协、甘肃美协主办的10人中国画作品展，作品在北京国际展览馆展出。

同年，任陇中画院院长兼任定西地区文化处副处长。

在甘肃省第二届美术家代表大会上当选为甘肃省美协副主席。

1991年，作品《青松出涧壑》被中南海珍藏。

1993年，获中共甘肃省委、甘肃省人民政府颁发的最高奖首届“敦煌文艺奖”。同年，调入甘肃画院任专职画家。

《梦鸟随枝摇》等十一幅工笔画分别收入《中国工笔画1900-1997卷》和《花鸟画谱丛书》

1994年，作品《秋在万山深处红》入选第八届全国美展。工笔画《梅花》作为艺术珍品收藏于中央组织部办公楼。作品《融融之茵》入选中国工笔画第三届大展。特聘为第四届中国艺术节吉祥物评选委员会委员。

1995年，应美国国际文化交流基金会邀请，经文化部批准，赴美举办个人画展，作品《荷图》、《竹雀图》获美国国际文化交流基金会邀请展金奖  。

1996年中央电视台播出《墨色温柔花鸟情》专题片。出版有《莫建成、莫晓松画集》、《莫建成、莫晓松花鸟作品精选》、《莫建成中国画传统题材精选》。

1998年《美术》第四期专版发表《花香鸟语陇上风记甘肃画家莫建成》的评论员文章和作品，

《美术观察》1998年4期专版发表《在艺术的大天地中耕耘》的评论员文章和作品。

《中国青年报》发表专题评介《野趣天籁成逸笔读莫建成工笔花鸟画》的文章和作品。

《人民日报》海外版发表《莫建成的工笔荷花艺术》的文章和作品。

光明日报发表《莫建成的工笔画》的作品和文章。

《寒冬寄语》入选中国美协主办的“第二届全国花鸟画展”，并被收藏。

2000年，在甘肃省第三届美术家代表大会上当选为主席。

《芦荡仙客》参加由文化部文化艺术中心、中国美协艺委会主办的“中华世纪之光·中国画提名展”，在中国美术馆展出。

2001年，《寒月惊梦》入选“情系西部·中国画邀请展” 

被中国美术家协会选为中国美协第五届理事会理事。

被甘肃省职称评定委员会评为一级美术师。

《作品诞生·莫建成工笔花鸟赏析》由古吴轩出版社出版。

2002年，主持筹办由省委宣传部、省政府办公厅、中国城市市花书画艺术大展组委会、中国陶艺研究中心联合举办的“西部风情‘飞天奖’书画作品及陶瓷艺术大展”,特邀全国书画名家作品参展，于同年5月在甘肃美术馆首展。参加由中国美协主办的“情系新疆·中国画名家邀请展”，作品被收藏。 

国画作品《早春》入选纪念毛泽东同志《在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》发表60周年全国美术作品展览 

2003年，工笔画《荷》应邀参加中华人民共和国第七届少数民族体育运动会美术作品展览，并被收藏。 

同年，被“全国当代花鸟画艺术大展”组委会聘任为评委会副主任，参与画展的筹展工作，工笔画《春风》参展，并在甘肃美术馆、北京世纪坛上海美术馆展出。

国画《万古长青》入选纪念毛泽东同志诞辰110周年《毛泽东诗词书画展》。

被中共甘肃省委、甘肃省人民政府第四届敦煌文艺奖评奖委员会聘请为专业评审组评委。主持敦煌文艺奖的美术专业项目评选。

《中国现代花鸟画名家技法精解·莫建成工笔花鸟画艺术》由中国民族摄影艺术出版社出版发行。 

2004年，《春风已渡玉门关》参加“庆祝人民政协成立55周年书画作品展览” 。

2005年，应邀参加“中国国家博物馆首届当代书画名家收藏展”，工笔画《中通外直》、国画《飞雪迎新》、《冬生妙香》被中国国家博物馆收藏，同时被聘为画册编委会副主任。

中国画作品《春风》荣获庆祝中华人民共和国成立56周年《西部风情——甘肃省美术作品展》特等奖

被甘肃省人民政府发展研究中心聘为特约研究员。

2006年，由中国美协中国画艺委会、北京画院、甘肃省美协主办“秋花春草·莫建成、莫晓松花鸟画展”，5月在甘肃美术馆、山东博物馆等地展出。

由中共甘肃省委宣传部、中国美术馆、甘肃省文联主办，甘肃省美协承办的“西望敦煌——甘肃美术作品展览”，8月在中国美术馆展出，《春风》《幽谷仙客》参展。《春风》被中国美术馆收藏。

同年，在中国美协主办、陕西省美协承办的“西部大地情美术作品展览”担任评委。

特聘为甘肃省实施国家重大历史题材美术创作工程申报作品专家指导组成员 

被甘肃省委宣传部聘请为甘肃省第五届敦煌文艺奖评审专家，负责美术、书法、摄影专业的评选工作。

2007年，参加由中国美协、内蒙古自治区主办的“草原情——庆祝内蒙古自治区成立60周年中国画作品提名展”。

《幽竹仙客》在西望郭煌·甘肃省美术作品展览中荣获艺术成就奖 

被西北民族大学聘请为美术学院兼职教授。

2008年，国画《山川异域共馨香》应邀参加2008年国际奥林匹克委员会主办的奥林匹克美术大会 ，展览于同年8月在中国国际展览中心、紫禁城(太庙)、北京奥运村展出，并赴希腊、美国举办巡回展。作品被北京奥组委收藏。

应国务院机关事务局邀请，创作中国画《红梅报春》，悬挂于国务院领导同志办公楼。

在中国美协、云南省人民政府主办的“西部大地情美术作品展”担任评委。

被兰州城市学院聘请为美术学院兼职教授。参加中国美术家协会第七届代表大会，并当选新一届理事。

2009年，中国画《傲雪迎春图》被人民大会堂收藏。

中国画《飞雪迎春图》应邀参加由中国文联、中国美协主办的“60年辉煌·中国当代书画名家作品联展”，并在中国美术馆展出。

被甘肃省人民政府聘任为甘肃省文史馆馆员。

作品《竹鹤图》应邀参加几年改革开放30周年·中国画艺术委员会成立十五周年“2008·全国中国画学术邀请展”

中国画《峥嵘》特邀参加中国金鸡百花电影节首届中国美术家“翰墨飘香”作品展。

被任为甘肃省美术家协会名誉主席。

应北京画院邀请，由中国美术家协会、北京画院、北京美术家协会、甘肃省委宣传部、甘肃省文联、甘肃省美术家协会主办，北京画院美术馆承办的“静朗清阔·莫建成工笔花鸟画精品展”在北京画院美术馆举行，并召开学术研讨会。

工笔画《清荷图》被北京画院永久收藏。

被聘为中国画学会创会理事

2010年应邀参加中国美协举办的全国中国画作品“数风流人物还看今朝”提名展。

2012年，线装书局出版发行《王了望墨迹选辑》（一函六册）线装精印，初版、再版共4000函。

同年，被兰州大学聘任为兼职教授。参加《当代经典·著名画家百人展》，庆祝内蒙古书画研究院成立十周年。参加由中国美协、中国美术馆、中国工笔画协会举办的“工·在当代 2013第九届中国工笔画大展” 

出版《中国现当代中流砥柱画家作品集. 莫建成》，线装书局出版。

2013年，被甘肃省委、省政府表彰：“莫建成同志在文化艺术领域成绩卓越，授予甘肃省文艺终身成就奖”。

南京博物院邀请苏绣传承人将莫建成创作的《莲界清丽无瑕图》（局部）绣制成屏风布置在南京博物院接待大厅   。

出版《中国近现代名家画集·莫建成》，人民美术出版社出版。  

2014年与2015年，两次被中国美协聘请为《丝绸之路·绚丽甘肃西部大地情》展览评委。

编著的《陇西诗书画名家作品集》，由线装书局出版。

撰写文章《翎毛妙手花鸟逸笔——明代陇西画家边景昭再认识》，整版刊登在同年5月7日的《甘肃日报》。

2015年，《敦煌印象·丝路虹霓》巨幅长卷，于2016年首届敦煌（国际）文博会前完成。亮相于文博会主会场和国展馆前厅展出。作品长34米、高1.4米。

被天水师范学院聘任为中国画学科首席专家。

2016年，分别被聘请为定西市边景昭艺术研究院、定西市王了望艺术研究院院长、中央文史研究馆书画院研究员。

2017年，被敦煌（国际）文博会特邀为专家顾问团专家参会。

2018年，中国画作品《铁骨发新枝 生春含馨香》入选《第二届中国画学会展 时代华章·2018》

 Born in Longxi, Gansu in 1942.

 

In 1972, he participated in the creation class of Gansu Art and Photography Exhibition to commemorate the 30th anniversary of "Speech" in Gansu Province.

 

In 1988, the fine brushwork "Bamboo Quail" participated in the "China Cup Chinese Painting Grand Prix" sponsored by the Chinese Artists Association, and won the third prize.

 

"Yueming Pheasant is not alarmed" and so on participated in the "Chinese Young and Middle-aged Painting Exhibition" which the Ministry of Culture went to the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe and was collected.

 

"Youyi Huaigu" participated in Taiwan's "Hundred Painters and Calligraphers Exhibition".

 

In 1989, "The Picture of the Secret Living" participated in the seven national art exhibitions and won the Grand Prize of Gansu Art Exhibition.

 

"Pheasant and Bamboo Picture" was selected for "Chinese Young and Middle-aged Chinese Painting Exhibition" to be exhibited in the Soviet Union and other places.

 

"Flowers in Blossom" was selected as the best work award in the National Art Exhibition.

"Autumn in the depths of Wanshan Red" participated in the Eighth National Art Exhibition and the Third Exhibition of Fine Brushwork.

 

In 1989, the fine brushwork Flowers and Birds was selected by China Foreign Art Exhibition Company as "Chinese Young and Middle-aged Painting Exhibition" and exhibited in the former Soviet Union and other places. The works were collected by China Foreign Art Exhibition Company.

 

In the same year, he created the fine brushwork "The Picture of Seclusion", which was selected into the 7th National Art Exhibition and won the first prize of Gansu Art Exhibition.

 

He was appointed by the Provincial Department of Culture as the director of Gansu Art Exhibition Office to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and served as the general judge.

 

In 1990, a solo exhibition was held at Bixian Gallery in Singapore. More than ten works were collected by art institutions and collectors. He participated in an exhibition of 10 Chinese paintings sponsored by the Chinese Art Association and Gansu Art Association. His works were exhibited at the Beijing International Exhibition Museum.

 

In the same year, he was president of Longzhong Painting Academy and vice director of Dingxi Culture Department.

 

He was elected Vice Chairman of Gansu Association of Fine Arts at the 2nd Congress of Artists in Gansu Province.

 

In 1991, Qingsong Rising from the Gully was collected in the Central South China Sea.

 

In 1993, he was awarded the first Dunhuang Literature and Art Award by the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Gansu Provincial People's Government. In the same year, he was transferred to Gansu Painting Academy as a full-time painter.

 

Eleven fine brushwork paintings, such as Dreambird Swinging with the Branch, were included in Chinese Fine Brushwork 1900-1997 Volume and Flower and Bird Painting Spectrum Series respectively.

 

In 1994, the work "Autumn is Red in the Depth of Wanshan Mountain" was selected for the eighth National Art Exhibition. The fine brushwork Plum Blossom is collected in the office building of the Central Organization Department as an art treasure. The work "Harmony of Yin" was selected in the third exhibition of Chinese meticulous brushwork. He is specially appointed as a member of the mascot selection committee of the 4th China Art Festival.

 

In 1995, at the invitation of the American Foundation for International Cultural Exchange and with the approval of the Ministry of Culture, he went to the United States to hold a personal painting exhibition. His works "Lotus" and "Bamboo Sparrow" won the gold medal of the American Foundation for International Cultural Exchange invitation exhibition.

 

In 1996, CCTV broadcasted a feature film of "Soft Ink Flowers and Birds". Published are "Mo Jiancheng, Mo Xiaosong Painting Collection", "Mo Jiancheng, Mo Xiaosong Flower and Bird Works Selection", "Mo Jiancheng Traditional Subjects Selection".

 

In 1998, the fourth special edition of Fine Arts published the commentator's articles and works of "Flowers, Fragrances, Birds, Languages and Winds of Longshang, Gansu Painter Mo Jiancheng".

 

"Art Observation" published the commentator's articles and works of "Working in the World of Art" in the fourth special edition of 1998.

 

"China Youth Daily" published a special commentary on the articles and works of "Wild Fun, Natural Sound, Easy Brushwork, Reading Mo Jiancheng Fine Brushwork Flower and Bird Painting".

Sending Words in Cold Winter was selected as the "Second National Flower and Bird Painting Exhibition" sponsored by the Chinese Artistic Association and was collected.

 

In 2000, he was elected Chairman of the Third Artists'Congress of Gansu Province.

 

Ludang Fairy Guest participated in the "Light of the Chinese Century and Nominated Exhibition of Chinese Painting" sponsored by the Culture and Art Center of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts Committee of the Chinese Art Association, which was exhibited in the Chinese Art Museum.

 

In 2001, "Cold Moon Dream" was selected as "The West of Love and Invitation Exhibition of Chinese Painting"

 

He was elected by the Chinese Artists Association as the Fifth Council member of the Chinese Artists Association.

 

He was appraised as a first-class artist by Gansu Professional Title Assessment Committee.

 

"The Birth of Works: Appreciation of Flowers and Birds with Fine Brushwork by Mo Jiancheng" was published by Gu Wuxuan Publishing House.

 

In 2002, he co-sponsored the "Western Style'Feitian Award'Calligraphy and Painting Works and Ceramic Art Exhibition" co-sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Government Office, the Organizing Committee of the China Urban Flower and Painting Art Exhibition and the China Ceramic Art Research Center. He was invited to participate in the National Calligraphy and Painting Famous Artists Works Exhibition, which was first exhibited in Gansu Art He participated in the "Invitation Exhibition of Famous Chinese Painters in Xinjiang with Love" sponsored by the Chinese Art Association, and his works were collected.

 

Early Spring, a Chinese painting, was selected to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's Speech at the Yan'an Symposium on Literature and Art.

 

In 2003, Gongbi Painting "Lotus" was invited to participate in the exhibition of fine arts works of the Seventh National Minority Sports Games of the People's Republic of China and was collected.

 

In the same year, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Jury by the Organizing Committee of the National Contemporary Flower and Bird Painting Exhibition, and participated in the preparation of the exhibition. The fine brushwork Spring Wind was exhibited at Gansu Art Museum and Beijing Century Altar Shanghai Art Museum.

 

The traditional Chinese painting "evergreen forever" was selected to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's birth "Mao Zedong Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition".

 

He was hired by the Fourth Dunhuang Literature and Art Award Appraisal Committee of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the CPC and the Gansu Provincial People's Government as a professional evaluation panel. Presided over the selection of the Dunhuang Literature and Art Award's art major projects.
